Bowls Festival at Acle

Norwich East School Sports Partnership Bowls Festival at Acle |Indoor Bowls club on Tuesday 11th June.

The Acle IBC coaches over the last year have visited the 6 local junior schools introducing them to bowls and the culmination of the year is the  now annual Festival of Bowls.

Two teams from each of the primary schools took part which comprised of  Acle, Freethorpe, Reedham,Lingwood, Fleggburgh and South Walsham..

The winners of the event were South Walsham with Lingwood as runners up, with the most sporting award going to the Fleggburgh Team.

In the photograph are all the winners with Karen Sillett the School Sports Co-ordinator and Denis Goodley of the English Indoor Bowling Association.

A bowls club has become an internet sensation after setting up webcams to broadcast its live games.

Coverage of the genteel action at Acle Indoor Bowls Club, near Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, has fascinated web viewers from New York to Australia.

Footage shown at www.acle-indoor-bowls.org.uk has had more than 14,000 hits already this year.

Club secretary Denis Goodley joked: We’ve not had a streaker yet, but I think it won’t be long before we get one!
